A vintage tarot theme, a green wedding gown, and a deeply emotional celebration at Pfister Hotel, one of Milwaukee’s most iconic venues.

Delaney and Jonathan’s Pfister Hotel Wedding
Some weddings just imprint on you. For me, Delaney and Jonathan’s Pfister Hotel wedding in Milwaukee will always be one of those days: full of emotion and details that felt deeply rooted in who they are. The way Delaney lit up in her emerald green gown (yes, it was green, and it was perfection with her red hair), was simply amazing. She found it at New York Dress, and it couldn’t have suited her or the day more. It was raw and beautiful and I know I’ll never forget it.
They’d originally booked a different venue, but after a sudden change of plans, they chose the Pfister Hotel. Honestly, I can’t imagine their wedding taking place anywhere else. The change felt serendipitous. There’s something about the Pfister’s old-world elegance and moody grandeur that made every piece of their Art Deco tarot theme sing. From the intricate gold detailing to the rich textures and dramatic lighting, it all felt so aligned with their vision.

A Historic Milwaukee Wedding Venue
The Pfister Hotel itself is one of Milwaukee’s most iconic wedding venues, and for good reason. It offers both history and elegance, and has this way of making every wedding feel elevated without being overdone. With marble floors, antique chandeliers, and sweeping staircases, it creates an atmosphere that feels special from the moment you walk in. As a Milwaukee wedding photographer, I love photographing weddings here because every room has something unique, and the Pfister Hotel brings such character to every wedding.
Vintage Details and Personal Touches
For their reception, Delaney and Jonathan created a space that was stylish but also personal. Relics Rentals brought in the perfect vintage lounge pieces, giving everything that layered, eclectic look. Belle Fiori created floral arrangements that felt classic and intentional: white blooms paired with sculptural greenery, adding just the right amount of polish to the vintage Art Deco space. Every table was marked with a different tarot card, a quiet nod to their shared love of symbolism and meaning. Guests could have their aura read or get a tarot reading from Regina Becker and Lynda Jackson, something I’ve never seen before at a wedding, and such a unique way to invite everyone into the experience.

While the details were beautiful, it was the emotional weight of the ceremony that stayed with me most. You could feel the love in the room, not just between Delaney and Jonathan, but from everyone who showed up for them. Having their kids there made it feel even more meaningful. This wasn’t just about the two of them, it was about the people they’ve built a life with.
As the reception unfolded, the atmosphere shifted from emotional to celebratory in that quiet, natural way. Guests relaxed into vintage lounge areas, lined up for aura and tarot readings, and moved through the night at their own pace. It all felt true to Delaney and Jonathan: a little offbeat, totally intentional, and full of warmth.
One of the most special moments came when Delaney, a professional singer, took the mic and performed two songs for Jonathan. It was quiet and powerful, a beautiful window into their world.
The Pfister Hotel for Your Milwaukee Wedding
If you’re planning a wedding in Milwaukee and dreaming of a venue with classic beauty, character, and a touch of Art Deco elegance, The Pfister Hotel is an incredible choice. Built in the 1800s, it carries so much history, but it’s never felt outdated. The updated ballrooms and suites still retain their charm, with ornate ceilings, large windows, and rich architectural detail throughout the spaces.
From a photography perspective, it’s a dream. There’s no shortage of texture and light, whether we’re capturing portraits by the grand staircase, candids in the marble lobby, or editorial-style images in one of the vintage-inspired rooms. Its location in the heart of downtown Milwaukee also makes it super convenient for guests, and gives couples the option of capturing portraits around the city (though honestly, you may not want to leave the hotel once you’re inside!).

What I loved most about Delaney and Jonathan’s day was how personal it all felt. There was nothing cookie-cutter about this celebration. It was emotional and grounded, and full of meaningful touches that reflected who they are. Not just as a couple, but as a family. These are the weddings that remind me why I love what I do.
If you’re planning a Pfister Hotel wedding or looking for a Milwaukee wedding photographer to capture something a little less traditional and a lot more you, I’d love to connect. You can check out more of my work here, and feel free to reach out if you’d like to learn more about working together.
